La Giostra del Borgo
7th – 10th June
Ippodromo Comunale di Ferrara, 31 (off Via Bologna)
This event is a re-enactment of life in the Renaissance period. You can visit a Renaissance soldier’s camp and watch dueling and archery competitions. There are plenty of other shows and entertainment, although the official programme has not been published yet. There are also some excellent restaurants with delicious food and beer.
Bike Night from Ferrara to the Sea (Lido di Volano)
15th & 16th June 2019
Meeting point at Piazza Trento Trieste from 8.30 p.m. onwards.
Departure at midnight!
Don’t worry, this is not a race. It is a bike ride along the River Po by night, which is suitable for everyone’s cycling skills. There is a proper cycle path which is flat, three refreshment stops along the way and breakfast upon arrival at the sea. This event started in 2014 and has become really popular. You must register, either on-line beforehand or on the day (but this will be subject to availability). At the meeting point in Piazza Trento Trieste, you can hire bikes, helmets and even event insurance for a small fee. There is then a coach which takes you and your bike back to Ferrara at 8 a.m. or at midday, which costs 20 euro (for you and your bike).

This is an exciting summer music festival with young artists from around the world, who perform outdoors in the beautiful setting of Ferrara. Some concerts are free, whilst others are not. Food Fairs (Le Sagre)
Here are just a few of our favourite summer food fairs! They are a great opportunity to become a part of village life and to sample delicious homemade food at a reasonable price.
Ferrara – Giostro del Borgo

At the Giostro del Borgo festival mentioned above there are some great food stands with interesting dishes to try. There are of course the traditional Ferrarese dishes, but there is also seafood risotto, wild boar and polenta, beef with rocket and parmesan, fried eel and squid rings.
Tamara (Ferrara) – Sagra dei Primi Piatti
7th, 8th, 9th & 14th, 15th, 16th & 21st – 24th June
Via Valle (on the right of the church). Stands open at 7 p.m.
This fantastic food festival celebrates first courses and there really is an enormous choice of them! The menu sounds amazing and incudes a variety of pasta, risotto and lasagna with exciting sauces such as, hare, saffron, mushrooms, fish, clams, truffle…
Cassana (Ferrara) – Festa della Pizza
6th, 7th, 8th, 9th & 13th – 16th & 20th – 24th June
Campo Sportivo, Via Smeraldina, 8. Stands open at 7.30 p.m.
No need to explain pizzas! There are also other dishes available, a volley ball tournament and fireworks on the last evening of this food festival.
La Tavola Rotonda (The Knights of the Round Table) – Game meats at Court
20th – 23rd & 27th -30th June & 4th – 7th July
Centro Sociale il Parco, Via Canapa. Stands open at 7.30 p.m.
At this food fair you can taste food from the past which was popular at Court. You can try wild boar, hare, goat and pheasant. There will also be music, flag-waving, dueling and archery.
